These words were not in my clients wedding vocabulary when we first met for the initial planning stages of their special day.
What started out as a small intimate celebration dinner turned into a whole wedding and dinner reception.
The “clients” are actually good friends of mine. There special day ended up being an opportunity for me to kick of getting back into planning events!
A quick moment to brag, with the exception of the venue, every vendor we used to pull this together was a black owned business! From the food, to the cake, the make up artist, music and photography!
From switching the venue, to the custom centerpieces and decor I’m sure I clocked every bit of 40 hours planning this event, not including the day of. Here a little peek into the vision from our IG

about the location: The Hofiemer Building also known as “The HofGarden” is one of Richmonds few rooftop bars in the city. I’ve frequented there a lot and had no idea they had this dope event space tucked on the second floor. the whole space really is a vibe and is perfect for a farmhouse themed wedding or event. The Coordinators Gabby and Kalli were on point and we worked well together to bring this night to close
I always say every event has SOMETHING memorable that will be the take away of the evening. For me it was the entrance of the mother of the bride singing Chapel of Love by The Dixie Cups A cappella as she was getting her make up done! I couldn’t get my camera out fast enough! Literally..this is all I captured
Day of:
My day started with making a custom crimson rose bouquet for the bride. We had to make a stop and pick up some more dinner napkins as my original contact disappeared about a week before the wedding and Amazon failed me miserably with color options and delivery. (My second order literally arrived at 3:15 the day of).
once we arrived the venue was pretty much stage and placed for us and we were ready to jump right in. It took every bit of 3 hours to get everything set up. One thing I didn’t account for was having to work two levels, Ceremony on the rooftop and dinner reception in the Loft area. Thank God for AirPods and good cell service!
Speaking of elevators, that thing took so damn long, so much so that we ended being about 15 minutes behind trying to bustle everyone up to the ceremony. It all came together though as soon as I saw that bride walk out the elevator.
the venue staff were amazing until it was time to cut the damn cake! The head server points to a table and says “everything you need is right here” I‘m sorry what ? Can we talk about how I personally had never cut a wedding cake during the cake time before? Nevertheless, as we do , you just jump in and make it happen. Thankfully, the head coordinator came and saved my ass, and the cake!
this wedding was truly an amazing experience. The bride and groom were such a joy to work with! Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Twyman for trusting me with the vision to make this day happen
